It's pretty normal to feel nervous when you are trying something new.  These feelings often pop up when you put yourself in a situation where you don’t necessarily know what the outcome will be or how others will react.  But what happens when you allow being nervous to hold you back from the things you really want to do?  You know I always say you have to embrace the discomfort you are feeling and do it anyways to not only grow in life but to really accomplish the goals and the vision you have for your future.  Are you ready to learn how you can make all those nervous feelings a little easier to experience?  Let’s dive in…

Have you ever been asked to give a presentation and you know how much it would benefit your career, but you just couldn’t get yourself to go through with it?  Maybe you found yourself just too nervous to be able to say yes, so you turned down the offer right away.  On the other hand, maybe you were able to say yes because you knew how beneficial it would be, but then you spent all the time before the presentation wishing you would have said no.  You agonize every moment with those feelings of nervousness you have about the presentation.  I understand.  It happens, and to be totally honest, I’ve been there myself.  Many times.

Anytime you find yourself getting nervous about something, whether it is giving a presentation, trying something new, meeting someone for the first time, or even advancing in your career, it’s pretty normal to feel nervous.  Most of us don’t like feeling nervous, but what if all these feelings are holding you back from something you really want in life?  What if you were able to normalize feeling nervous?  What if you could embrace these feelings and continue to move forward with what you want to do?  This is when you’ll really start to get what you want in your life.  You’ll experience so many more things, and your experiences will be much more exciting.

I want you to think about how you feel when you are nervous.  Do you start to sweat?  Maybe your heart starts to beat faster and faster.  What happens when you try to resist feeling nervous?  Do you find that it actually gets worse?  So often, when I’m working with my clients, they try to resist these nervous feelings.  They try to push them down or try to ignore them, pretend they are not there, but they find when they do this, it often backfires on them.  They actually end up being even more nervous.

What if when this happens, and you remember being nervous is completely normal, you were able to embrace all of this discomfort and do it anyway?  Have you ever asked someone right before they were going to do something big if they were nervous?  Most would say yes.  Many would say that they can handle it or that they are used to feeling this way.  Do you wish you could be more like this?  Well, it’s possible.  Are you ready to learn how you can stop letting being nervous hold you back in your life?
